Abstract
The article provides an overview and analysis of modern diamond drilling and cutting technologies used in the reconstruction, widening, and dismantling of massive reinforced concrete bridge structures. Based on the long-term experience of NPP SK MOST LLC since 1994, the article describes key methods used in practice, including diamond drilling of precision holes, cutting with circular saws and diamond wire, and breaking concrete with wedge jacks and hydraulic nippers. The article also provides examples of successful implementation at the Moscow Ring Road, bridges over the Oka, Volga, Sheksna, and other rivers. The comparison of these technologies with traditional impact-vibration methods of dismantling, such as the use of hydraulic hammers, jackhammers, and blasting, has been performed. It has been shown that the use of non-destructive diamond technologies allows for the continuous movement of traffic, reduces the duration of work by 4–6 times, and ensures the reuse of dismantled elements, which saves the cost of repair work. Particular attention is paid to ensuring structural stability during demolition, as well as to applying these technical solutions in constrained urban environments and over railway tracks. The article concludes that diamond technologies are highly effective and promising for bridge reconstruction and demolition, offering significant engineering and economic potential for transport infrastructure construction. The cited examples of repair projects utilizing diamond cutting serve as practical confirmation of the successful execution of these processes while maintaining safety standards.
