Abstract
Due to changes in the foreign economic directions of the Russian Federation and the process of changing the format of production and logistics chains in the Asia-Pacific region, transport systems, including the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Baikal-Amur Mainline, are under considerable strain. These highways, which provide export supplies from Siberia to the East, are already experiencing difficulties in increasing freight traffic. Increasing the capacity of the Eastern polygon to 240 million tonnes by 2035 as part of the third stage of development planned by Russian Railways will only partially solve the problem. In the current situation, it is necessary to create additional transport corridors in the direction of Asian countries. This is especially important for railway transport, which is able to provide large volumes of freight traffic at minimal tariffs. As part of the expansion of economic relations with Mongolia and China, it is proposed to carry out pre-project studies of two railway lines: western and northern, which will diverge in Arz Sur.
The construction of a gas pipeline is of strategic importance for all countries in terms of developing trade and economic co-operation. For Mongolia, the effective functioning of the corridor will bring the economy to a new level, including social development. In order to remove infrastructural restrictions for the export of Siberian products, the possibility of building a line from Kuragino to Kyzyl and further south through Mongolia to the People's Republic of China will be considered.
